Remarkable Health Benefits of Cranberries

Author: Anna Smith

I am referring to an article written by Ben Kage, Natural News.

According to Amy Howell, Researcher of the Rutgers University Marucci Center for Blueberry and Cranberry reseearch,  “the cranberry is one of the top foods proven to have health benefits”       The article goes on, giving the following information:

Cranberries are rich in antioxidants which can protect cells from unstable molecules that damage the cells of animals as they age.

New research is being funded by the National Institute of Health to discover effects of cranberries on yeast infections, heart disease and others.    More studies are analyzing the effect of cranberries on cancer, stroke and infections.      Cranberry juice can reduce bad cholesterol and raise levels of good cholesterol.

It is difficult to drink sufficient cranberry juice - pure.   The alternative is the

100% Fresh Freeze-dried Cranberry capsules  -  100% cranberry,  no sugar or additives.  Visit our website for more information, and take good care of your health!

See you next time with more information on the

What is a Cranberry?

Author: Anna Smith

What is a Cranberry?

A cranberry is a relatively small, red berry that grows on low-hanging vines in temperate zones all over the United States and other world regions.  The cranberry is a member of the same family of plants as bilberry and blueberry.

Cranberry can be taken as a juice, the whole berry, or from an extract. For maximum cranberry benefits, there should be no additional sweeteners added.  There are also nutritional supplements containing cranberry available in capsule and liquid form.

Cranberries Contain Natural Antioxidants

Antioxidants are currently all over the news as a boon to health, and cranberries are full of them.  You can bake with cranberries, eat pure cranberries in the form of sauce you enjoy for your favorite holiday, or take a supplement containing cranberries for optimum health.

Cranberries contain certain components that prevent urinary tract infections and are thought to contain antioxidants that may help protect against heart disease, dental plaque, stomach ulcers, and cancer.

Cranberries for Urostomy Patients

Author: Anna Smith

Monday   July 28, 2008

A urostomy is an artificial opening, surgical operation,  usually permanent.   This is to allow urine to be excreted when the natural way of urine excretion is impossible.

In a 1992 medical journal,  B. Walsh wrote: that all people are susceptble to changes in urinary ph.   However,  those with a urostomy are even more susceptible and that alkaline pH was strongly associated with:   ulceration,   odours,  urinary tract infections, bleeding and/or incrustation of the stoma.

B. Walsh mentioned a good internal technique to acidify the urine was Cranberry juice and ascorbic acid.      There are numerous good cranberry products with no added sugar that can be a definite benefit.

The 100% Fresh freeze dried cranberry capsule  would be a solution; they are  easy to swallow,  easy to carry, and easy to store.

Until next time -  take care  -  enjoy and protect your health.

Cranberries - for vaginal infections

Author: Anna Smith

“Most women will have a vaginal infection sometime during their life time”     Normally the bacteria and yeast counteract each other but if one is more prevalent, a yeast infection may occur.      Some reasons are:   long term use of antibiotics,  pregnancy, diabetic condition, birth control pills.

Signs of infection:   Burning, soreness, itching in that area, and vaginal discharge.

A cranberry product can be very helpful since they are acidic and lower the pH of the vaginal area.   There is scientific evidence indicating sugar feeds yeast infection so it is best to take cranberry products with no sugar added.      There is lots more information on this subject  in the book “The Cranberry  Nature’s Answer to Urinary Tract Infections”  written by a R.N. who suffered kidney failure in 1988.

For a pure cranberry product  take the  100% Freeze dried Cranberry Capsules!!

Content and Value of Cranberries

Author: Anna Smith

July 23, 2008

The main constituents of cranberries are water, protein, fibre, carbohydrates and very little fat.   They also contain huge amounts of vitamins, minerals and various other nutrients.     The nutrient value can vary depending on growing conditions and how they are stored or processed.

Eating fresh raw cranberries gives the maximum therapeutic value.   A 1988 article by F. H. Neilson  tells how the dark red-blue colorings are due to bioflavonoid molecules, and other information (too much to print here).

From  The Cranberry  book  by Phyllis I Dales -  there is  evidence these two compounds in the molecules   “enhance the integrity and structure of the collagen matric, thereby fighting osteoarthritis (bone disease)”

Personally  my mouth puckers just thinking of eating fresh raw cranberries they are so sour!   My husband and I take the 100% Fresh Freeze-dried Cranberry Capsules  regularly   (and of course my muffins!)  and certainly helping both of us.

That is my message for today  -   have a wonderful happy healthy day!

100% Fresh freeze-dried Cranberries in Vegicaps(R)

Author: Anna Smith

The following information was taken from a book:   “The Cranberry   Nature’s Answer to Urinary Tract Infections”     by Phyllis I. Dales, R.N., N.U.A.

The Vegicaps(R)   are, we are positive, the best way to take a therapeutic cranberry product.     Vegicaps (R) have the following advantages:

1.  Made from vegetable cellulose

2.  Do not contain animal products -  therefore suitable for vegetarians

3.  In a healthy person, the Vegicaps(R) should disentigrate in the stomach within 30 minutes

4.  Easily digested - perfect for people with low stomach acids

5.  There is no waste in receiving the noted amount

6.  They provide a controlled condensed dosage

7.  Easily opened to mix with food for the person who has difficulty swallowing capsules

Gelatin capsules are animal based, and some people object to this.

Tablets - the cranberry powder is pressed into a solid dosage form, with the help of a binding agent to keep its shape, and to be effective it must first be dissolve by the stomach acids before the body can absorb.   They are often coated with sugar  and depending on the tablet it takes approximately 30 minutes - 1 hour to dissolve.

After reading the above -  I’m sure you will agree the  100% Fresh Freeze Dried Cranberry Capsules are the most helpful.      There is much more information given in the book  (c.d. and ebook)

Until next time  -  have a wonderful summer holiday!

Don’t forget to take your Cranberry Capsules along with you to stay healthy!

Cranberries for treatment and prevention

Author: Anna Smith

Friday   July 18, 2008

Numerous research studies have been done over the years, including one in 1968, and reported in “Southwest Medicine”  by P. N. Prodomos.    The study was done wtih 16 males, 44 females all suffering active urinary tract infections.   Each one drank 16 oz. pure cranberry juice routinely and when the trial study was over, 73%  had the infection under control.    61% stopped taking the cranberry juice  and all had the urinary infection return.

However,  drinking  pure cranberry juice every day may not be convenient for people going to work,  travelling -  or you may not like the taste!

Is there another option?    Yes!      The 100% Fresh freeze dried Cranberry Capsules are available  -  quick and easy to take!   The cranberry is in easily digestible Vegicaps(R) and will keep for several years in the sealed opague bottles,  room temperature.

I trust the above information is helpful  -  more information on the website!    Until the next time -  have a wonderful day!

Cranberries for prevention of kidney stones

Author: Anna Smith

Wednesday  July 16, 2008

The following information is collected from  the book   “The Cranberry  Nature’s Answer to Urinary Tract Infections”   written by a  Registered Nurse  (who had kidney failure herself )   Reference named in book is H.H. Zinzeer,  an article in N.Y. State Journal of Medicine, 1968..

Anyone prone to kidney stones needs to take preventative mesures to avoid infection. There are three kinds of kidney stones:   calcium oxalate,  uric acid stones and cystine stones  -  the last one is not common.

It is suggeted that calcium oxalate stones may be caused by eating foods with high amount oxalates  -  cranberries have helped many patients;   consult your doctor as to quantity as most berries do contain oxalates.

Uric acid stones  are usually found in patients suffering from gout.

Why take cranberries?   Cranberries are one of the few acidic fruits containing an inhibitor to assist the kidney in fighting bacteria, and contain the Tamm-Horsfall glycoprotein to prevent e-coli from sticking to the bladder salls.       However, cranberries are very sour -  and sugar is required if they are eaten raw!    The answer to the problem:

100%  Fresh Freeze Dried Cranberry Capsules

Easy to swallow,   easy to carry,  long time shelf life

I hope you have found this information helpful  -  and - until next time  - Stay Healthy!

Delicious Cranberry Bran Muffins

Author: Anna Smith

I have had this Bran Muffin recipe for a number of years, and my family love them -  even my 10 year old dog, Buddy,  begs for a bite.      They are very simple and quick to make - but they don’t last long!      Here we go  ..

Preheat oven to between 350 and 375 deg. F.    and have rack in middle.

Using your electric mixer,   in large bowl:   2 cups cold coffee (I usually use instant)

4 large eggs  (or 3 extra large size)   1 1/2 cups vegetable oil,    2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Beat really well.

In another bowl blend together:    4 cups all purpose flour     4 cups bran (I use wheat

bran)   1 1 /2 cups white sugar     4 teaspoon baking powder    1 tablespoon baking soda

2 teaspoon each:  cinnamon   and nutmeg     1 teaspoon salt         and gradually beat in to

the liquid mixture.

At this point    I add  at least  2 - 2 1/2  cups  frozen cranberries   and stir in by wooden

spoon to distribute evenly through the muffin batter.  Spoon into greased muffin pans

or   use the paper baking cups  - I use the large size.

Bake for 15 - 20 minutes.   I set my oven at 350deg F  for 16 minutes,  then test with a

toothpick.

This recipe yields between 2 1/2 and 3 dozen.   I leave a dozen out for immediate eating  and freeze the rest.

This recipe  - without the cranberries -  will keep in the refrigeration, uabaked, for about2 weeks.   However,  I like to bake them right away, save the extra hydro and more convenient.

 Enjoy   -  but don’t forget:

Take the 100% Fresh Cranberry Capsules as well

Until next time  -

  Happy Bladders and Happy Kidneys!
