Cranberries to fight Gum disease, tooth decay

Author: Anna Smith

Hi there -  I’m back!      I have been digging up my garden  and raking, etc.  and OHHH my back and my legs!!    I had to have a cat nap this afternoon to partly recover.   On top of that -  I had slipped on the stairs on Sunday - and my ankle didn’t feel very good!

Anyway  -   I’m back in action again here  -  and an article in The Latest Health News dated March 2008   is very very interesting!      It is from the Journal of Antimicrobical Chemotherapy  -   the anti-inflammatory compounds in cranberries are shown to fight severe gingivitis, inflammation of the gums   and  tooth decay.

Other research found that the cranberries  “are able to alter E coli bacteria in ways that render the bacteria unable to initiate infections including kidney infection, gastroententis and tooth decay”       (I will be 72 in October - still have most of my own teeth -   so it’s cranberries for me  -  I don’t like dentists!!)

There is more information in this article -  on another very important subject - that I will be writing about next time -  so  stay tuned -  I won’t be long!!

To be sure you are getting the best cranberry product -   CranberryCrandale offers 100% pure  Fresh Freeze dried Capsules  - totally Canadian product.

Cranberry Preserve - for our Health & Appetite!

Author: Anna Smith

This recipe,   Cranberry Preserve is in the  “Alive”   Natural Health Guide  written by Phyllis Dales and Bruce Dales   -   there are other recipes in the book using this preserve.

4 cups  (2 lbs)  fresh cranberries        1 large organiz orange cut in 1/2″ thick slices

1 large organic lemon cut in 1 /2″ thick slices       1 1 /2 cups (350g) natural cane sugar crystals

Put the following spices in a cheesecloth  and bundle into a little bag -  this makes it easier to remove the spices after cooking:       2  cinnamon sticks    2 pieces star anise    1 piece cardamom        5 cloves   1 piece nutmeg  pinch sea salt

Put all ingredients in a large pot and slowly simmer on medium heat until all liquid is evaporated (approx 20-30 minutes)     Remove orange and lemon and spice bag.

You will see that the lqiuid has a jelly-like consistency.   Set aside to cool.    Once set keep covered and refriaterated.

I haven’t tried this one but it certainly sounds delicious and nutritous!

This is another way to enjoy cranberries  -   we don’t get this every day -  so what do we need to keep healthy???      100% pure Fresh Freeze dried Cranberry Capsules  from  CranberryCrandale!       Visit ouw website at  www.CranberryCrandale.com  and see more stories and particulars!

Cranberries for Our Pets - their Urinary Tract!

Author: Anna Smith

Good morning !      Another beautiful day here  -   the weather-man had said it was going to start being cooler -  so I dug out some of our fall clothing -  and now we have some good warm weather  -  seems to work every time!

A press release in April 2005 from WMass Dartmouth University, Author: John Henry, showed that some manufacturers add cranberries to pet food for their urinary tract.    As our pet population grows and responsible pet owners take more care in what their pets eat,  so  the benefits of that cranberry becomes better known and understood.

With that cooler weather and cold weather that we are sure to get -  I am thinking of the pets that have to go outside for their bathroom.    Our Buddy is now 10 years old, and really does not like going out when it is cold and stormy  -   he tries to wait and that bothers me.     To try and prevent any urinary tract infection  I give him a cranberry capsule, sometimes 2,  a day.     He also loves my bran muffins with cranberries  so I give him a bite of that - mostly cranberry!     For my two cats -  I open the capsules and sneak it into their wet food -  and trust they eat it!
Right now there are no cranberries available in the stores   -   next month, October, they will be there again.    For now -  my husband and I depend on the  100% pure   Fresh Freeze Dried Cranberry Capsules by Cran_dale  -    my website:   www.CranberryCrandale.com
I have to run along - Buddy is “hounding” me for his walk!      See you next time with more good information!    Take care and have a wonderful day!

Cranberries For Cardiovascular Health

Author: Anna Smith

Good Afternoon!      I started doing this Blog earlier but then a very dear friend of ours came by for morning coffee.      It is very cloudy today  -  but actually still warm, with just a very few drops of rain falling -  fall is coming  and all the geese are flying south!

Doing a usual research for cranberry information -   and that sour little red berry iis just a powerhouse of nutrition for so many common problems.

The information today was gleaned partly from WebMD Medical news:

We have all heard the term  “hardening of the arteries”  meaning that the chlorestorol has clogged our arteries  -  this can lead to a stroke.     Well - guess what!  it is strongly  suggested that the flavonoids in cranberries can be a weapon against hardening of the arteries.

The flavonoids help reduce the  amount of bad cholesterol clogging the artery walls and - at the same time- increase the good cholesterol level -  leading to cardiovascular health!

Fruits and vegetables are very good for us; however, a study of 20 commonly eaten fruits cranberries came in top of the list!

Fresh cranberries are not always available  -  personally, I don’t like the dried ones as here they are very expensiv.     When the cranberries come back into the stores - I buy numerous bags and freeze for my baking or cooking!       However,  the 100% CranberryCrandale (Cran_dale)  fresh freeze dried cranberry capsules are always available  -  strict quality control,  100% Canadian product  and are shipped out to you immediately your order is confirmed.

For more information -  why not visit my website  www.CranberryCrandale.com   and read the other articles on this Blog site?       You will be pleasantly surprised at the many benefits of the cranberry.

Until next time -   you take care  -  I’ll be back with more pertinent information on the benefits of cranberries  and the Cranberry capsules!

Cranberries - Antibacterial Agent for Urinary Tract Infections

Author: Anna Smith

Good morning!     Another beautiful day here -  we must appreciate these warm days before the cold weather appears.      There are always so many chores to do in the garden and flower beds!     My geraniums, roses, and others are doing so well that I don’t want to disturb them yet and when warning of frost comes - I’m out there with my sheets or blankets to cover.

I was checking out, as usual, for some great information for this blog  -  and found this very interesting!     This is from a non-profit organization in the States,   so this is not just advertising - these are factual.

When cranberries grow wild - and some can still be found -  they grow as shrubs.  However, cultivated cranberries are low trailing vines in great sandy bogs and are larger than the wild ones.

How do cranberries help the urinary tract?     Cranberry juice (or fresh cranberries) acidify the urine and also contains antibacterial agent and other compounds that reduce the ability of e-coli to adhere to the bladder walls and the e-coli is washed away in the urine.    Since e-coli is 80-90% responsible for urinary tract infection, the cranberry protection is really significant.

It is also found that the chemical changes caused by the cranberries can also create an energy barrier that prevents the bacteria from getting close to the urinary tract!

That great sour tasting red berry  is just so very important to our health in so many ways.    (It is also a cousin to the blueberry)        Since we can’t always have fresh cranberries  and for those who probably can’t drink as much of the juice - there is always the alternative:   CranberryCrandale 100% pure fresh freeze dried cranberry capsules!   Absolutely no additives  and are 100% Canadian grown and produced.

You have a wonderful day  -  and I’ll close with a little verse that I love called                              A Note of Blessing

May the blessing of good health attend you    For many and many a year

These are the wishes I’m wishing      For someone who is special and dear.

 Bye for now!

Pure Cranberry Muffins

Author: Anna Smith

flo-looking-at-hollyhocks.JPGGood evening!          Fall is coming -  high for today in Winnipeg was 17C   but tomorrow is 26C  -  which will be a beautiful warm day!     I was busy this morning making pickled beets - then have about 7 lbs. bananas to make cake/loaves/cupcakes!    Then I had some typing to do for a friend -  so I have been busy!    This is a picture of me with my hollyhocks in front of our house.

I am getting anxious to find fresh cranberries  -  last year I bought 6 bags  but this year I will buy at least 10  so I don’t run out so early.    This recipe makes a small batch.

                             Cranberry Whole Wheat Muffins
2 ¼ cups flour               1 /2 cup whole wheat flour              1 /3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder       2 teaspoons ground ginger     1 /2 teaspoon orange peel

1 /4 teaspoon salt      1 1 /4 cups milk         5 tablespoons melted butter           1 egg             1 cup frozen (thawed) cranberries

Preheat oven to 175deg. C grease or butter muffin pan (or use paper baking cups)

Mix flours, sugar, baking powder, ginger, orange peel and salt in medium bowl; set aside. Blend milk, melted butter and egg in separate bowl. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix just until just blended. Do not over mix.
Stir in cranberries until evenly distributed. Divide batter among muffin cups. Sprinkle icing sugar on top of muffins, if desired. Bake at 175°C (350degF)  for 15 to 18 minutes until lightly browned. Makes 10 Muffins.

Cranberries are a very healthy food   -   our urinary tract,   our eyes,  our blood circulation,  bed wetting,  just for examples!        Because we don’t always have the option of fresh cranberries -   the CranberryCrandale 100% pure Fresh freeze-dried capsules  are the answer!

Cranberries for Healthy Kidneys

Author: Anna Smith
kidney dialysis

If you have been diagnosed with kidney disease, particularly if you are on kidney dialysis, you may have been instructed to transition to a low-protein diet for your health.  Eating a low-protein diet alleviates undue stress on the kidneys and allows them to digest food more efficiently, assisting in the elimination of excess build-up waste to your blood.   Foods that are high in protein are meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy products.  Phosphorus in the diet also needs to be limited, because it can drain your bones of the necessary calcium to keep them healthy and strong.  Foods high in phosphorus include dairy products, beans, peas, and nuts, while beverages with phosphorus include cocoa, beer, and cola drinks.  Sometimes a diet for kidney health will also require reduction of sodium as well.

Kidney disease can be the result of diabetes, high blood pressure, or other health issues.  Cranberries are full of vitamin C and are one of the few acidic fruits that have the capability to assist the kidneys in fighting bacteria.  Recent research has also indicated that the antioxidant properties of cranberries may aid in the prevention of kidney stones.

Cranberries for the Bed Wetters - bladder problem

Author: Anna Smith

Greetings today!    Monday -  and we are already half way through September -  the first two weeks seemed to disappear awfully fast!     We are being promised some more good hot days this week -  I wish we could store them for winter relief!   However, that is only wishful thinking so I’ll get on with my topic!!

It is very embarrassing for children who have weak bladders causing bed wetting problems  -  and as they get older, the problem does not always go away.    (then there is all the  extra laundry that is required!)    There are remedies on the market - and some are very expensive -  and not always successful.

In the book  The Cranberry   Nature”s Answer to Urinary Tract Infections   there is a short article about bed wetting.       Children with this problem were given 4 ounces of cranberry Juice daily at approximately 4 pm.    This was found to cure the problem.

The commercial cranberry juice is delicious to taste and certainly helps in some instances. However,  a cranberry product with less sugar may be advisable because:

a)  Sugar has a tendency to form plaque on the teeth

b) Would be healthier for a diabetic child to have less sugar

c)  Less sugar would prevent the needless weight gain.

A child, I’m sure, is not going to drink unsweetened cranberry juice.   If they can swallow - they can have the CranberryCrandale 100% Fresh freeze dried cranberry capsule.    If they can’t swallow  -  the capsule is very easily opened and add contents to their food.      Allergy to cranberries is very very rare making them perfect for any age.

I do hope this blog is useful to you  -   seems we are always finding new benefits to that cranberry!       Here is a little “until next time” verse:

May your troubles be less

Your blessings be more

And nothing but happiness come

through your door!

Cranberries can help Menopause

Author: Anna Smith

Good morning

I hope everyone has had a good restful night - and ready for the day!    I was up early as usual to let my dog out,  went back to bed for a short time but my thoughts and plans prevented more sleep -  so I was up at 6:45.     I had my very necessary cup of coffee,  my cranberry pill, some toast - and here I am!

A customer from England asked me if cranberries help with menopause -  I went on Google search for more information and found that the shrinking of the reproductive and bladder tissues that can occur in the post-menopausal years can lead to bladder infections.

One of the many health ingredients in cranberries is D.Mannose which is absorbed many times faster than glucose - goes directly to the bloodstream,  filtered through the kidneys and routed to the bladder.    Unfriendly bacteria adhere to this D.Mannose and is expelled with the urine.

Unsweetened cranberry juice is okay,  and can be helpful  but cranberry-cocktail contains too much sugar which feeds bacteria.

Why try to drink unsweetened cranberry juice (my mouth puckers at the thought)    The easiest way to get your pure 100% cranberry  is capsules -  try the CranberryCrandale 100% pure Fresh freeze dried cranberry capsules   -  easy to carry,  easy to store, easy to swallow.    They are 100%  Canadian product from growing to production!

Well I’ll run along for now  -  if you have any comments or question -  you may leave them on my blog site here   -  visit my www.CranberryCrandale.com for more information.    We also offer a book, a c.d.  or e-book  which was written by a retired nurse who, herself, suffered kidney failure a few years ago.      Read more about it on our website.

See you soon  -  have a wonderful day!
