Cranberries - a help with Chemotherapy for Cancer

Author: Anna Smith

Good afternoon!      Just a few more hours left for November 2008  -  just seems that this month started.      We have had really good weather so far -  and I really pray it lasts at least over December  -  so folk who are travelling can enjoy the Season.

One of our church members has pancreatic cancer -  and to start chemotherapy in January.     This gave me one big reason to research this particular topic.

A blog dated August 23,2007   states it is strongly suggested cranberries may increase the ovarian tumor cells sensitivity to chemotherapy  -  in fact,  it was found the effectiveness of the chemo increased six-fold.     Reason for this is still unknown but quite possibly because of the very high antioxidants level in cranberries.

This is not saying that cranberries cure cancer -  no they don’t  -  however,  the benefits of the chemo are increased when cranberries are  working in “partnership”.       With so many many people suffering cancer -  the cranberries can be a very helpful tool as well.

Our website   www.CranberryCrandale.com   and this blog site  gives good information on the uses and benefits of cranberries  -  and our Cranberry capsules.      100% Canadian product  -  350mg cranberry in each capsule!

You take care -  and enjoy health.     Sincerely   F. Horan, CranberryCrandale

Thanksgiving Turkey - don’t forget the Cranberries!

Author: Anna Smith

My friends in the United States are celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend  -   and I extend our very best wishes for a happy and safe Thanksgiving.     We certainly hear about the financial turmoil  -   and some are feeling it much worse than others.

However,  we all have something(s)  to be thankful for  -   we have to count our blessings -  and quoting from a song   “and see what God has done”      When we really count our blessings -  the bad times  don’t seem quite so bad after all.   Try it - it works!

Just a little personal note  -  my husband was very ill in 2006  -  and as a result is on antibiotic every day for the rest of his life.   This is not good for the kidneys and his blood count is very low.      Everytime he exerted himself just a little,  angry blood blotches would appear on his arms or hands - his arms became very dark from these outbreaks  and he always wears long sleeved shirts.       For the past three months I have urged him to take more cranberry capsules  -  four a day -  and guess what?    He is no longer getting these big blotches breaking out - and the darkness - I think - is gradually lessening.    He still has kidney problem - and always will -  but if these can help even a little -  it is well worth it!

Visit my website    www.CranberryCrandale.com    for more information on the cranberry capsules,  book and c.d. that we offer.        Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely your friend - Florence Horan

Frosted Cranberry treats - and good nutrition!

Author: Anna Smith

Good evening -   I just discovered that the blog I need two days ago was not published for some reason -  so you will get two today!

The Greycup Football game is playing so I’m sure there are possibly thousands of people watching - including my husband!

I found this very simple recipe for a cranberry treat!    Frosted Cranberries!

In a medium bowl stir together:   2 tablespoons water  and 1 tablespoon pasturized eggwhite or liquid egg substitute.    Blend well  but do not whip.     Add 1 - 12 oz package of fresh cranberries and coat them.     Spread  1 cup white sugar on a baking sheet and roll the coated cranberries in the sugar, coat well.    Dry at room temperature 2 hours.    These can be used as garnishes on desserts -  or just eat!

One of the comments added  -  the lady used light cornsyrup instead of egg.

Sounds  like  a nutritious treat -  and a good  “nibble” food.         Just another way to get those cranberries -  with all the goodness saved.       I certainly intend to try these!          Wouldn’t these be good to bundle up as a little gift?

Cranberries are such a very special fruit - with qualities that other fruits don’t have.  It is quite important that we have these regularly.       Check out out website  www.CranberryCrandale.com about the cranberry capsules we offer  -  350mg pure cranberry in each one!

It is already November 23rd  -  I usually do some heavy duty baking for Christmas and Holiday Season - for ourselves and gifts     Just need a few more hours per day  to get all these items on my list accomplished!

Until next time -   take care -  keep smiling -  it’s good for our health too!

Using Cranberries in our diet for our health!

Author: Anna Smith

Good evening!   I hope you have had a wonderful day  -  or at least having one - depending on your location when reading this!

I found these recipe ideas on a website from University of Main.   There are more ideas listed but I chose the ones I liked the best!

A)   Add  1 /2 cup cranberries to your banana bread or apple muffins.    In fact, they can be added to any bread or muffins!

B)  Baked apples:    remove the core - and cranberries go in the hollow.   Sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon over top - and there is a great dessert!

C)  Cranberry Mustard  -  heat some whole berry cranberry sauce, add a touch of sherry and honey,   plus an equal amount of brown or Dijon mustard,  pinch of ginger!      The article says that it will make the pork or salmon sing!

Cranberries are very rich in antioxidants and many other healthy substances it is quite important that they are in our diet daily.      However,   that isn’t always possible -  the CranberryCrandale capsules,  350mg in each one,  are an excellent substitute for the real thing.     Always available,  and so easy to carry or store.   We suggest taking one a day -  morning or noon as they can act as a diuretic.   If in case there is a possibility of urinary tract infection -  up the quantity to 3 -4 for a few days.   However,   if the symptoms don’t go away in that time, be sure to contact your doctor.      As stated before -  cranberry capsules can be taken quite successfully with antibiotic to clear up the problem faster.

Please check out the website at www.CranberryCrandale.com  for further information on our products.      Until next time …..take care.

Cranberries to help fight some cancer cells!

Author: Anna Smith

Good evening  -  we had a rather cold day today -  letting us know that winter has arrived!     I did my grocery shopping this morning -  I am usually tuckered out after that exercise!       Made my bran muffins today  -  2 1 /2 dozen -   I was busy and had my grandson take them out the oven for me  and when I went back to my kitchen about 1 /2 hour later - there were three missing already!

I had planned on stocking up cranberries  -  but the bag size had decreased and the price increased -  have to look around for some and stock up!      I have, at times,  used  left-over cranberry sauce in the muffins as well.

The following information is from several sources:       Cranberry juice extract makes platinum based cancer drugs six times more potent against ovarian cancer.     This is test tube findings - still too far from the patient’s bedside!    However,  researchers believe this opens up possibilities for therapeutic intervention.     Plantinum-based chemotherapy is the main treatment for ovarian cancer but  the cancer cells cab become immune -  the chemo is increased - and so is the toxicity to the patient.

Certain compounds found in the cranberry kill human ovary, brain and prostate cancer.   The anti-cancer substances comes from one kind of chemcials - only found in cranberries!   Further research is always on-going.    However,   patients should not start drinking excessive amounts of cranberry juice without their doctor’s consent.

The answer to not drinking too much cranberry juice -  is to take cranberry capsules.     CranberryCrandale offer 350mg cranberry to each capsule,  only the water is removed - and all the natural goodness is right in that capsule!    They are very easy to swallow  -  but if the person can’t swallow -  simply open the capsule and the contents can be mixed with food.        Why not give them a try??    There are so many folk suffering cancer -  cranberries will never ever hurt  but they sure can make a big difference in our health!

Visit our website   www.CranberryCrandale.com     -  see who I am,   what products are offered.     Contact information is given on website if there are any questions.

Until next time -  take care of your health!

Cranberries for our Eyes - Macular Degeneration

Author: Anna Smith

Good evening!     It has been a very busy day  -  we had our annual bazaar today at  church -  over there at 9am - six of us in the kitchen cutting buns, buttering,  toppings on (5 different ones)  then covering and storing them  in the cars until required.    We had all those beautiful cakes, cookies,  etc.    and of course our bake and craft tables.    I was working in the kitchen - a beehive of activity!    Really great - but tiring!   I have to admit I had a little snooze when I came home after walking my dog!

Mom always told us that carrots would keep our eyes bright and healthy and if we didn’t we might go blind!    I didn’t like them but her little threat worked - some.

A study published in the Archives of Ophalmology indicates that eating three or more servings of fruit per day may lower the rate of age-related macular degeneration (ARMD)     A research involving food intake information of 110,000 men and women over a period of 12 - 18 years was carried out.    The intake of vegetables was not strongly related to ARMD but fruit intake definitely showed as protective against this vision-destroying disease.

Three servings a day of fruit  - you say?    That sounds quite a bit!    Ideas to have three servings are  1)   have a dish of yogurt  or  a green salad  with cranberries on top    2)  toss a banana in your Smoothy drink in the morning  3)   fruit over your cereal    4)   bran muffins with cranberries baked inside!        (I have made the recipe for bran muffins with mandarin oranges)

Just another reason to really enjoy the cranberries!     However,   I - and I’m sure I am not alone -  do not want cranberries  every day- plus the fact they are not always available!           How do we get around this??     CranberryCrandale capsules    a) 350mg cranberry in every one       b)  fresh  freeze-dried cranberries   c)  only the water removed   d)   100% Canadian product - growing and produced into capsules

Vist our website at www.CranberryCrandale.com    for more information  -  and if you are looking for a gift for someone who has macular degeneration,  urinary tract infection,   certain cancers -   what better gift to give than a bottle or two of the CranberryCrandale capsules?

If you would wish to send them as a gift -  please let me know and I’ll specially gift wrap!     I am always available by telephone or on my email - information  available on my website!

Until next time -  take care -  and remember - a smile always makes us feel better.

History and Health Benefits of the Cranberry!

Author: Anna Smith

Good afternoon!     Sorry to take so long getting back  -  my husband and I had our flu/pneumonia shots a few days ago -  and just took the “umph”  right out -  the doctor had given him a little extra pneumonia shot due to other health problems.      I didn’t feel that great myself but he was really ill.   However,  we have both recovered and I have to get back to work here!

I’m sure there are some readers who, although they may have a computer, don’t do much research  (like my husband who plays games)      I found this interesting  article from Discovery Health  -  cranberries were first cultivated back in 1815 - and some of the cranberry beds are still existing  -  93 years ago!     There are five U.S. states that grow cranberries  - 110,000 metric tons a year!      In Canada,  they are grown in B.C.  and Ontario   (we have the wild ones here in Manitoba)   and CranberryCrandale purchase from the Ontario grower.   I have no idea of the total produced.

The cranberries are mostly harvested by machine -  and, of course, some are damaged by the machine and cannot be packaged - they are made into juice.    All the cranberries have to be hand-picked for top quality control -  any with any type of bruising cannot be used.

Years ago, the North Americans used cranberries to draw poison from arrow heads!  Cranberry paste was made and used to preserve dried meats.   At that time the name was “craneberry”  -  but after a time the “e” was dropped.      I read in another website sometime ago  that even then the cranberry was used to fight urinary tract infection -  there is a long history to that little red berry!

Now -  we don’t have to depend on finding the fresh berries for the year-round protection  -   CranberryCrandale capsules have 350ml of cranberry in each one -   fresh  -   freeze-dried   to save all the wonderful nutrients - only the water is removed!

Visit our website   www.CranberryCrandale.com   for further information and testimonials from folk who have used them - and still using them!      If you have questions or concerns -  please do not hesitate to call or email  -  all the contact information is on our website.

Thank you for coming today -  have a wonderful day!

Common Miracle Cures

Author: Anna Smith
bladder-infection

Despite their commonness, household foods and ingredients can be used to treat serious health conditions or combat injury.  For example, mayonnaise is a miracle cream.  There are so many different things you can use it for, such as a skin moisturizer, a treatment for skin abrasions, or a lubricant for removing a ring from a swelling finger.  Regular consumption of cranberries can combat kidney problems, urinary tract infections, and even a bladder infection.  Eating mangoes, papaya, and other orange fruits and vegetables which contain beta-carotene will increase your eyesight, fortify your cornea, and preserve your eyesight for the future.

These are just a few examples of common foods that do worlds of good, there are several thousand other foods which can be of just as much benefit to the human body.

Here is an excellent recipe for cranberry rice pudding; a sweet treat that isn’t too fattening.

1 ½ cups water
2 tablespoons of orange peel
½ cup dried cranberries
¼ teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
1/3 cup sugar

Directions:

Combine rice, water, orange peel and salt in a saucepan.  Heat until boiling, stirring occasionally.  Reduce the heat, cover the saucepan, and let simmer 15 minutes or until liquid is gone.  Removing the cover, increase the heat to medium-high and add sugar, milk, and dried cranberries.  Heat until boiling, stirring often.  Reduce the heat to medium-low, cook until thick and creamy, 25 or so minutes, stirring occasionally.  Wait to cool before eating.

CranberryCrandale capsules may help prevent cancer!

Author: Anna Smith

Good morning!     Our weather in Winnipeg went from absolutely balmy temperature to rain- ice pellets -  and lots of snow!     It is again shovel time!     I was out shovelling yesterday morning so the gate would open -and ohhh my neck hurt yesterday!    Anyway   I feel much better today!

I went to a favorite site this morning  researching more good information on my favorite topic  -  cranberries!        More and more research is being done and more benefits of cranberries are being found.      These pretty little sour Cranberries are healthy,  non-calorie fruit that help reduce the risk of ulcers and cancer!  Allergies are next to nil  making them safe for everyone.

Research is showing that one cranberry ingredient, in particular, may prevent bacteria from sticking in the stomach  -  this includes the bacteria responsible for gastrointestinal disease plus duodenum, peptic ulcer and gastric cancer.     This information is from the Cranberry Institute website.

They also say that 300ml of pure cranberry juice daily can prevent urinary tract infections   so  consider this:      How much better and easier would a 350mg of fresh freeze-dried CranberryCrandale capsule be??

Visit our website at www.CranberryCrandale.com  and read the testimonials from folk who have taken the capsules - and still are!  They keep coming back for more!

Now -  just a personal messsage  -  did you know that when you answer the telephone with a smile -  the smile comes through?    It’s hard to believe but it does!      There is a website up now  -  encouraging us to answer the phone with a very simple message showing love and peace:    “Hello from my heart”         Let’s try it!!     Until next time,  you take care  -   and thanks for coming!
